I teach the three-day mosaic workshop
in my beautiful country studio
just outside of Petaluma, California. The first two days are
a Saturday and Sunday, with one day of the following weekend
to grout and finish up the projects. I teach students at all
levels, from beginning to more advanced. Classes are limited
to eight to ten students. I provide a set of tools for each
student to use during the workshop, the base to mosaic upon,
grout and mortar. I ask students to bring their own materials,
such as old china, tiles, glass, pebbles, shells, figurines,
and anything you can imagine mortaring down. (No plastic if
the finished piece is to be outdoors.)
Students learn:
- how to design a project
- how to accurately cut and set tessarae
- mortaring, grouting and clean-up, etc.
- a multitude of things I have learned over
the years
Each student leaves with a beautiful finished
piece of his or her own design and is prepared to continue
to create mosaics. Plus, we have a ton of fun!
A $60 deposit will hold your place in the
workshop. The deposit is non-refundable, but I will be happy
to re-schedule you if absolutely necessary.

| One
Parent/One Child Mosaic Workshop |
|
$90 covers parent and child |
| This workshop is centered
around the concept of learning and working together with your
child on a project you both can enjoy.
For children aged 6-16 years and a parent. In my beautiful country
studio just outside Petaluma, California, we mosaic a cement
disc that can be used as a stepping stone or a small garden
tabletop. Most materials are included. Please plan on bringing
any special elements that you would like to include in your
project. Please inquire for upcoming workshop dates. |

"I just finished one of
Sueann's workshops and am looking forward to attending
another. Sueann has
both the knowledge of the art of mosaic, and the teaching
skills needed to pass on the techniques of creating
beautiful mosaic pieces. Her warm personality makes
the class relaxing and fun. Sueann's beautiful studio
set in the Petaluma countryside, adds to the enjoyment
of the class. I would recommend
Sueann's workshop to everyone interested in this art
form."

Sueann offers student workshops in
the classroom for small groups of elementary-school age
children. Group sizes range from 5 to 18. Please contact Cocci
and Idee for further details on the requirements of various
group sizes.
Featured here is a birdbath
that a group of students created under Sueann's guidence.
1) First, the students discussed
their theme ideas with Sueann and settled on an undersea motif
for the birdbath.
2) Next, each student made
a ceramic piece based around this theme, such as a mermaid
or a fish. Sueann's extensive past experience with ceramics
is helpful during this phase of the workshop.
3) Then, the students designed,
assembled and grouted the final piece and it was fired in
the kiln.
Cocci & Idee's Classroom Workshops
are a wonderful way to teach mosaic and ceramic art to students
while creating a lasting and lovely gift from the students
to the school or for a special teacher.
